Fluorescent lamps are phosphorous-coated tubes filled with a low-pressure mercury vapor. Light is produced by passing an electric arc between tungsten cathodes at opposite ends of the tube. This causes the mercury vapor to generate a radiant energy.

Plain and simple. I was looking for a 13W CFL bulb to use in a college dorm room. It is surprisingly bright and reacts just as well as an actual blacklight on certain fluorescent substances (ie. glow paint, glow pens, anything that reacts under a blacklight really).
Pro's: CFL, exactly what was advertised, long lasting (CFL), very bright, reacts really well to fluorescents.
Con's: Waiting on snail mail, other than that nothing.
