We have a Victorian lamp with a fluted ceramic shade that doesn't completely cover the light bulb under it. I was keeping a scarf draped over it to reduce the glare, but using this antique bulb is a much better solution. The part that can be seen is very interesting to look at....and 30 watts does not produce the annoying glare I was getting from a 40-watt bulb. These bulbs are pricey and they are not low-energy, but for a vintage style decorative lamp that isn't on very much, I think they are a perfect solution.

I intended for this bulb to sit above my dining room table in a low hanging chandelier, but it simply isn't bring enough to create even a romantic light at night. That being said, it is a very beautiful light bulb and it gets a lot of comments.

Let's be honest, this isn't the brightest bulb in the bunch. Seems to me that it is getting brighter as time passes. May be just me. I'm not the brightest bulb in.... You will love this bulb for mood lighting. Beyond that, it lights my 8x10ft room with a dull orange glow. I swear it's getting brighter....... Enjoy ! It is what it is. I'm going right at the 60 watt....
