I installed three of these about three years ago, and one of the three just burnt out, so the life-span has been pretty decent (the one that just died was being used in a bedroom shared by a 2-year old and 3-year old, and they both love to turn it on and off).
Pay attention to the color temperature. The three that I had previously purchased had the exact same model number, and were made by the same company, as the bulbs listed here, but were rated at 5100K.
