If you must, leave these lights on all the time. At 1/7 the energy consumption and 4 times the useful life, these are well worth the money. I was also surprised by the size of the bulbs. I had expected the width to be larger than the typical flame style bulbs but to my pleasant surprise, they are nearly the same size.
