While true these bulbs appear bright, they fail quickly. We have purchased a total of 17 bulbs for each of the recess lights throughout the house. Within two months we have had to replace 6 with one of those 6 being a DOA. That is a failure rate of 35%!!!!!. That is over the top. Name another product on the market that has a failure rate of 35%. Fortunately for the manufacturers of these bulbs, the EPA has written them into law. How green are these bulbs really.

4 out 6 CFL burn out in 2 months. I use them in air tight recess fixture (ICAT) lighting in the dinning room. It was designed for this purpose. May be the heat gets to hot or I got a bad batch.
I called up the manufacturer for the warranty and they were happy to give me replacements and postage free of charge. They only ask for the model and lot number. Five days later, 4 new replacement CFL bulbs came in the mail.
Quality control is lacking - some burned out quickly,

I installed all six bulbs in September 2011. One burned out in December 2011, so I called Feit Electric and gave them the relevant product numbers on the base of the bulb. They quickly mailed me a new one, no charge. In January 2012, the replacement bulb, plus another of the original bulbs, burned out. Again, I called Feit (a few days ago) and they have promised to send 2 more replacements. So, their customer service seems excellent, but I'm not sure about the quality control in the production process. These bulbs were a bit brighter (more lumens) than the prior brand I bought at Home Depot (most of which lasted over 5 years), which would be great if they will last several years. There's a slight, but noticeable, delay between turning on the switch and getting any light with all of these types of bulbs. Plus, they all take up to a minute to reach full brightness. But, the energy savings and substantial reduction in heat output (there are seven 65-watt floodlights in my kitchen...Read more
