Summary: SHORT LIVED BULBS 2008-07-05
Comment: I ordered three of these bulbs to save on energy and because they were touted as being long lasting. Two of the bulbs failed within the first month. I hope a different brand of these bulbs will be better because I won't order these again.

Comment: These energy efficient light bulbs give just as much light as an ordinary 100 watt bulb. Energy Smart Spiral bulbs take a few seconds to reach peak brightness, but after that I can tell no difference between the amount of light they give and the amount an ordinary 100 watt bulb gives.

Summary: barely dimmable 2008-04-18
Comment: I tried this bulb and was disappointed. The quality of light was good and bright, but the dimmability was poor. On a typical rotating knob dimmer switch, the bulb did not turn on at all until the knob was nearly all the way on, and then the bulb shines at full 100-watt brightness. Then you try to dim it and it will turn down to about a 75-watt bulb brightness (maybe as low as a 60 watt bulb, but still very bright) and then it turns off completely. I think most people would want a dimmable bulb to dim down to lower than a 40 watt level.
