I use this for my indoor garden. After my plant came out of seedling stage, it started doubling in size every day. 1 plant, 400 watts = amazing.

well the first 400 watt HID bulbs after only a few hours of operation
the lite would go out, then with out doing anything it would come back on. This would happen all day I notified the company after I explained what was happening they replaced the bulb However, the replacement bulb
which was installed 12/30/2010, its starting to do the same...
PS we even put in a new balast.

This is your standard Metal Halide light for a 400w ballast that can be used either horizontally or vertically. The pricing is good and the light works well for growing. If the garden doesn't work out you've got the best reading light around.
