The Philips Circline Daylight Deluxe bulb comes in two sizes, 12 inch and 8 inch. My kitchen fixture uses one of each size simultaneously.

The package describes the light as "Arctic-white" and states that it creates a "cool, refreshing environment". I am hoping that using daylight bulbs in my kitchen and bath will help reduce the symptoms of Seasonal Affective Disorder as I spend a lot of time in these rooms every morning.

Regardless of any potential therapeutic effects, I am very pleased with the almost-blue whiteness for use in the kitchen although the intensity would be uncomfortable in a sitting room or bedroom where I use cool white and where most people prefer to use warm white bulbs.

There is no noticeable flickering. There is a slight delay when the fixture is turned on but this may not be due to the bulb itself. It does glow in the dark after it has been turned off, and for quite some time.
