A decade ago, compact fluorescent bulbs had two irritating issues:
1) They were too big for many light fixtures (unable to fit within the outer shell or housing).
2) They took several seconds or more to warm up to full lighting.
Like most modern compact fluorescent bulbs, these bulbs turn on to full lighting strength instantly. But the best thing about them is how tiny they are - smaller than 60 watt equivalent bulbs and even smaller than the most common incandescent light bulb shape we've all grown up with. Quite a bit smaller.
These bulbs will fit easily into any light fixture where the traditional bulb shape is used. This came in very handy in our new home which has an incredibly wasteful 3 bulb light fixture on one ceiling, in which the space is too cramped to put in 60 watt equivalent compact fluorescent bulbs.
