Disappointing,

This review is from: PHILIPS 9W 120V EL-A G25 21633 Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb - 3 Pack
These bulbs take about two minutes to reach full brightness, and start out rather dim. Which is practically unacceptable by today's standards. I had them in my bathroom and most of the time I was already leaving the room before they had fully warmed up. I only saw how bright they got (somewhat brighter than a 40w incandescent bulb) when I was taking a shower or cleaning.
The light itself is nice, not as yellow as a regular bulb but not a fluorescent blue either.
I bought a three pack at Wal-Mart, not at Amazon. One bulb went out after thirty seconds, so I had to take the whole package back to get an exchange. Now, here it is less than five months later and another bulb has gone out. So much for the advertised "seven year lifespan". I could take advantage of the limited warranty if I knew where my receipt was and I imagine I would have to pay the shipping costs to send the bulb to Philips, which would be more than half the cost a replacement bulb I'm sure...Read more

Does NOT live up to expectations,

This review is from: PHILIPS 9W 120V EL-A G25 21633 Compact Fluorescent Light Bulb - 3 Pack
The G25 Vanity Globe Phillips CFL Compact Fluorescent bulbs DO NOT live up to expectations. A little over a year ago, we replaced our bathroom's vanity bulbs in hopes of 1) having a longer running bulb (this bulb advertises a 7 year life) and 2) to save $$. Neither has been true for us. Three out of the five bulbs have already burnt out in just over a year. I plan to replace all the bulbs with the old GE bulbs that don't take as long to warm up and that last just as long (if not longer) than these weak bulbs. I will NEVER buy these bulbs again... they are a big disappointment and don't even come close to living up to expectations!

A letdown,

I'm disappointed with the performance of these bulbs. I have replaced most of the rest of my lighting in the house with GE branded CFLs, but the only globes I've found were these Philips bulbs. They take an extremely long time to come up to temperature and brightness. I think the best I've heard them described as is "medieval." They are wonderful if you have a dressing room where they are going to be on constantly, and the first few minutes are unimportant for the performance, but in a household situation, they are constant underperformers.
