I read good things about the dimmable CFLs from Purespectrum. I wanted to use these in the few remaining fixtures in my house in which I use incandescents, because I want to be able to dim them.

The Purespectrum bulbs do indeed dim. I noticed a slight hum, but nothing too too bad. However, these bulbs are about two inches taller than the standard incandescent size, which means they don't fit in my dome-shaped fixtures, and they stick out above the shades in my chandelier.

I have used these bulbs now for nearly a year. They have performed flawlessly to date, even in a ceiling fan. They are instant on, and dim as advertised. While a couple of buyers have noticed humming, I have not experienced any noise at any level of dimming. The price is right and the best I have found for any dimming cfl light bulb.

The pure spectrum bulbs can be dimmed down to about 10% win you put a incandescent bulb on the same switch. 20% otherwise. I am a electrician by trade, and i was very excited to get these bulbs. I bought 36 of this bulbs because the reviews were so good. They do work, but they hum when they are dimmed. they make to much noise to use anywhere in my home. I am very very disappointed. on a loudness scale two bulbs are louder my computer. I'm well aware that all florescent bulbs make noise. when this bulb is at full brightness it hums like a regular bulb. But the humming gets 5 to 10 times louder when dimmed.
