Sylvania 57017 40-Watt 120-Volt Halogen Capsule G9 Base, Frosted

Using the Mark I Uncalibrated Eyeball, these appear to put out just as much light as the nominally 50w bulb that IKEA provides with some of their fixtures. Color temperature looks to be about the same too. Construction appears to be adequate, although the wire loops on the base are thinner and more irregular than on the OEM IKEA bulbs, and the bulb itself isn't as nicely finished. Doesn't seem to pose a problem tho.

My kids have a planet light from IKEA that they love. I found similar bulbs on the internet, most at ridiculous prices and some at the same cost but with shipping prices that double this price. This bulb looks as near to identical as I can tell to the one it replaced. It fits easily but securely into the socket and it works perfectly.

Similar "designer" bulbs from my local lighting store were burning out within weeks. I replaced the first one with one of these almost six months ago, and it's still burning brightly -- and that's with daily use (8-12 hours a day). I've installed four of these bulbs so far, and none have burned out and all are burning well. I highly recommend them.
