Other nightlight bulbs advertise they are cool to the touch. Well, maybe, for the first few hours. After a kid forgets to turn them off for a couple of days, even 2 watt incandescent bulbs become very hot and unsafe for kids.
Not these! These 1 Watt LED nightlight bulbs stay cool to the touch even after being on for days. These bulbs produce a cool white light (I would describe it as a slightly bluish white or white white), while incandescent bulbs produce a warm (slightly yellow) light. Warm light is nicer to to the eyes, or even an orange/red light for night. Maybe using a nightlight with a full shade (front & back) would produce a more pleasant color with these LED lights.
The amount of light is fine for a true nightlight. If you desire just enough light to walk to the door without bumping into things, these bulbs could be even just a little too bright. It depends on the style of the nightlight shade, and the placement of the nightlight in the room. The...Read more

A big problem with most LED bulbs, night light included, is that they are dimmer and bluer than the bulbs they are intended to replace. These bulbls are a big step in the right direction. They are still slightly dimmer and bluer than incandescent 3 watt bulbs, but they are the closest I have found so far. The color is not at all objectionable. If you run them 24/7, it will take less than a year to pay the difference in price.

Another reviewer pointed out that this bulb does not put out enough light.. That may be true in a night light fixture, but not true in all fixtures. I replaced 8 watt incandescent bulbs in my path lights and they are fairly bright. Not quite as bright as the 8 watt bulbs, but bright enough. I tried this bulb in a plug in night light and it gave out less than half the light output. I think that most incandescent night light fixtures drive the bulb at a lower than normal wattage so that the bulb lasts longer. That works against the LED replacement bulb. Bottom line: if you need a night light, buy a new dedicated night light fixture like the Maxxima MLN-15WL-02. If you have a 120V fixture that takes an 8 watt C7 bulb, this is a great replacement.
