Comment: I looked for a replacement bulb for my OTT vision saver plus lamp for years! I was just ready to order this expensive bulb when I found that GE makes one that fits the lamp. Maybe the light quality is inferior to this expensive bulb, I'm not sure? I'm just saying there is a bulb that works in the lamp and it costs way less than this one. Amazon sells them too for less than a dollar (but about $5.00 for shipping... so what...it's still better than $20.00 each)!
Take existing bulb out first and study the end that plugs in. Mine had a two prong plug with a longer white square "thingy" between the prongs. Search for a 13 watt BIAX compact fluorescent bulb. I didn't want to wait for shipment so I found one for $6.99 at Staples! They sell them at Lowes and other places too.
The other end of the glass tube part is not as rounded at the original bulb but it still works fine. This bulb says it's good for 7 yrs or 10,000.00 hours (light output 825 lumens). At first I didn't think it would fit because the bulb didn't slide in easily (to my folding style lamp), so I got desperate and forced it in and behold! I see the light (finally)!!!

Summary: Ott Lite replacement bulb 2010-02-15
Comment: My Ott Lite is 5 years old and this is the first time I had to replace the bulb. As a crafter and seamstress, this task lite is phenomenal. I appreciated the quick service and good price from Amazon on this product.

Summary: 10,000 Hour Service Life is BS 2010-01-27
Comment: I've used Ott-lites for years and I like them, but the 10,000 hour service life claim is way off. I have 3 lamps and they generally need new bulbs every two years.

Summary: Found OTT Lite replacement lamps @ Amazon 2009-12-01
Comment: Ordered this lamp with some trepidation. Wasn't sure if it was the right one for my OTT Lamp. It was. Worked just fine. What I still would like to know is if these lamps are guaranteed to work for a certain amount of time & what to do if they don't.
